I have experience using shur mics on my drum set and they sound pretty good and arent too expensive. I have mostly Sabians and one Zildjan, you cant go wrong with either..mainly depends on personal sound preference.

were you always playing with lights or did you make a move from mediums?

How much do strings actually matter? Is it easier or harder playing a certain string such as light strings as opposed to medium strings? Do they differ in sound much? What are the real differences?

Ive played the drums for quite some time now and am interested in learning guitar (being able to play DMB songs is my goal). Other than a personal lesson obviously, what would be the best way to start learning? Any DVDs out there that would suffice? Any books? Personal lessons arent really an option ...
