i've been using clayton acetal picks (.63mm) lately (the green eagle or whatever). they're really nice for both picking and strumming, and really snappy- similar to dunlop orange tortex but better imo... check them out

Minarets Appreciation Thread

So i finally got a copy of BOWA vol. 1 companion, and I was blown away when I heard this track, mostly for Boyd and Roi's parts, very well done.

I only have a couple versions of this song, Luther College and of course R2T. Does anyone have any other versions of Screaming From the Minarets?

This may have been done before, but does anyone have an accurate complete tab for Stream?
I know its a huge undertaking, I saw a vid on YouTube of some kid playing it, pretty inspiring

Drilling into a Martin? Scary. Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer attempts to remodel the house. Steady, steady... duh!

violin help

I am considering buying a violin, but I don't know anything about them. If anyone plays violin or has any knowledge of what I should buy as a beginner, I would appreciate it.

Dave uses a lot of palm muting, but what I do for minarets is I mute the bottom three strings with my left fretting hand and try to strum only the top three with my right strumming hand. After a while you'll find yourself only hitting the top three strings and occaisionally hitting the G string, but ...

What I usually do is I palm mute the slide on the low E string, and I also slide down from the 5th fret to the 3rd fret to finish the riff. If you mute the low notes it will bring more attention to the high slide.
