on the 7th fret, use your pinky finger and your ring finger to play the g and low e respectively. With your ring finger laying across the other stings, the mute happens naturally.
For the second chord (3xx4xx), use your index finger for the low E and middle finger for the g. Third chord (5xx6xx ...

why did dave stop using the chet. i think his sound was the hottest when he used gibson. there's a bunch of threads about it here. I cant remember the exact reason, but it was pretty much a sound issue. the taylors just sound better for whqt he wants with the band.

id love to see him break it out ...

I don't play this song too often, but I play it like this below. I mute the low E with the tip of my index finger. I think it's an easier mute.

I've bought a few Cherry Lane books for Dave's albums, and I don't like them. Stick with DMBTabs, this site is much more accurate to the way Dave plays. Grey Street

I would suggest dreamingtree.org. There are a few torrents there of the Riverbend show. While you're there, download the Red Rocks concert. The setlists for each day (4 days) are excellent, as well as the quality.

The first few songs I leraned were Dancing Nancies, Two Step, Grey Street, Typical Situation, Fool to Think, Watchtower, and Crash Into Me to name a few. I think they are some of the easiest Dave songs to play.

Watchtower. It's easy, it sounds good played solo, and everyone knows it.

I never had trouble with the verse, it was the second chord to the chorus/bridge that I play different because I didn't like the progression that has been tabbed. I've played it live like this below, and it was an easy switch and it sounded good. It's the same note, just not the stretch. Whattaya ...
