true...but for someone who hasn't seen or heard it before...the magnet is probably a better visual description...and the bow is a better sound description.

Are you trying to play it like Dave and using four fingers are you just using two and sliding up and down the neck?

Naw, your not missing anything about not being able to see the muting actually happen. When it is done well, it is effortless and is not visible.

Also, as Kukini pointed out in an earlier post, there are different ways to mute the strings. YOu should experiment and find what is most comfortable ...

As for the muting question...here are my suggestions. I'm gonna try to make this as simplistic and step by step as I can. Grab your guitar...hope this helps u out....
