I do recommend the MObile PreUSB. It was sold out, i searched different locations at got the last one at daddys junky music. This is a good unit. It runs by USB 2.0, the phantom power seems really good and recording goes well. I run all my audio through it. This unit is a good start.

Buy a USB recording interface for about a $100. There are tons of them out there and each is pretty much as good as the next. I'm partial to M-Audio.
If you can't spend $100 bucks to get decent sound than I can't help you.

So I want to record my acoustic playing onto my laptop. I have a crappy little sony mic that's used to record to an MD player, and I've been trying to record with that directly connected to the hole in my laptop with the little microphone ...

well, its not much...run my ibanez aw100ce through the dl4 to the computer...i use a combo of cool edit pro and acid pro to record with...nothing fancy as of yet, but my new job is opening many doors...

let me give a little idea of what i want to do. say i want to record howie day's "ghost". He uses a lot of effects during that song, and loops and stuff like that. how would I go about recording that?
