no, a lot of people here bag on him a lot because he "plays over the band" or he is out of tune. I just dont get it. He is so awsome (granted I dont play violin) but yeah, he gets the job down with awsome to throw in it. No way. Boyd is great. "playing over the band"? like, too loud, drowns others ...

*shocking gasps heard around the boards* ;)
Cello is close enough. The low strings of a Cello, G and C, overlap the high end range of a stand up bass.

I really need proof why Boyd is so damn bad. I just dont get it, sorry to get off topic though. Bad as in no good? Or Bad is in "he's awesome!"? I think he's pretty good -- he gets the job done and plays his stuff well. Though, he's no Itzahk Pearlman and he doesn't have near the correct playing po...

[quote="shane"]i dont see the big problem with there being no frets. its like how after a while we dont need to look at the fretboard to know were on the right fret. we just get used to it and know our hands are there. a good question though - whats the point of getting a fretless bass guitar? is t...

Along the idea of no frets --- I remember early on in my cello playing days, some kids had a problem with watching their left hand (the hand that would be on the "frets" of a cello). Some teachers would set up a block so the kids couldn't look at their left hand. Same with guitar, if you practiced l...

I play the Cello. Have, off and on, for 11 years now. Maybe I have a good ear, but I can play rather easily by listening. And I can play violin at the equivalent to a 2nd grade reading level -- I can get by. My theory is that if you learn one: violin, viola, cello, the others come easily. It's the g...

Learn to play the instrument, listen to the songs to play by ear, and watch the DVDs and watch Boyd. It's not too hard.

The Stone cello intro in 6/8 time -- done

I have The Stone cello intro done as of now. It's in 6/8 time, so it looks really wacky, but if you play it using the Finale Notepad sheet music maker/reader, it sounds dead on. Message me and I can email it to you, if interested.

to play the drums, you gotta think 6/8 other wise youd get lost. Hey we got a chello player. What other DMB stuff can you play? Also, for the most part, Dave's voice fits right in the range of the cello, really easy to play without having to play in odd positions (really high up on the strings, lik...

I have a few originals I'd love to add the low sound of the cello to.

tony@dmbvideos.com is my email. Thanks.

FatJack -- You are right -- It would be a hell of a lot more simple in 4/4 -- but then, you'd theoretically have to change to 6/8 when the guitar comes in... For now, I am doing it in 6/8 -- and it looks really funky, but sounds dead on. I'll change to 4/4 later. I'll have it done in a good 15 minut...

Cello Intro to The Stone

Is the Cello intro to The Stone in 6/8 time like the rest of the song? I have the Before These Crowded Streets Guitar Tablature book here and it says the song is in 6/8 time. But to get the cello into 6/8 time I am having to use a ton of funky notes -- 32nd notes, 16th notes, etc. You get the idea. ...
