Cello is close enough. The low strings of a Cello, G and C, overlap the high end range of a stand up bass.

I think he's pretty good -- he gets the job done and plays his stuff well.

Though, he's no Itzahk Pearlman and he doesn't have near the correct playing ...

i dont see the big problem with there being no frets. its like how after a while we dont need to look at the fretboard to know were on the right fret. we just get used to it and know our hands are there.

a good question though - whats the point of getting a fretless bass guitar? is there a sound ...

Learn to play the instrument, listen to the songs to play by ear, and watch the DVDs and watch Boyd. It's not too hard.

I have The Stone cello intro done as of now. It's in 6/8 time, so it looks really wacky, but if you play it using the Finale Notepad sheet music maker/reader, it sounds dead on. Message me and I can email it to you, if interested.

Is the Cello intro to The Stone in 6/8 time like the rest of the song? I have the Before These Crowded Streets Guitar Tablature book here and it says the song is in 6/8 time. But to get the cello into 6/8 time I am having to use a ton of funky notes -- 32nd notes, 16th notes, etc. You get the idea ...
