two step strumming?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Code: Select all

Newer Intro
E:----------------
B:----------------
G:-10-------------
D:-x--------------
A:-8--------------
E:-10-------------
   d u D u d u D u d u D u d u D ....and so on

d = light downstroke
u = light upstroke
D = emphasized downstroke
Muting is a VERY important part of this song (right hand). I mute all strums except for the "emphasized downstroke".

Here is an audio demonstration of how I play it. Guys, please tell me if I am wrong :D

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": The food court is downstairs. The cookie stand is upstairs. It's not like we're talking quantum physics here.

How do you do the right hand muting technique, is there anyone who can help me with this? I really think that might be whats messing me up for that song cuz it never sounds perfect, plus I just wanna learn how to do it really bad.

I lay my palm / wrist slightly over the strings , that way you can still strum and keep the strings a little quiet .... try it out :)
