Manicure?

Post by You_Enjoy_Myself »

Hey all. I'm a pretty avid fingerpicker, and the other night while jamming with some guys, I pretty much tore my nail off of my middle finger. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to strengthen the nail? And I don't want to use the picks that you put on the end of your fingers, because I don't feel as comfortable with them. I know some artists like Bruce Cockburn use superglue on the ends of their nails to help protect them a little. Has anyone tried this? I just wanna be able to fingerpick and slap without having to worry about fuckin up my nails and having them hurt for the next few days. Thanks

Yeah well, I can play with my nails short, but I like the feel and the sound of longer nails.

Oh and a funny little side-story. When I saw Don Ross in concert a few weeks back, one of his nails flew off midsong, and landed on someones table. They got a nice souvenir, and he had to spend the intermission fixing his nail. He said he has a mini tackle box filled with supplies for repairing broken nails.

Let it heal then let them grow. Use clear coat nailpolish, seriously.

I'd do a search to on google. There are lots of tips for keeping your hand in tip top shape.
